What happens to it

  1. 01The driver hands it inAnything found in a vehicle comes back to the office. The driver gets a receipt with a reference number, so there is a record of exactly what was handed over and when.
  2. 02We log it and store it securelyIt goes into our lost property register with a description, the vehicle it was found in and the date. Items that could contain personal information — phones, wallets, papers — are flagged and kept in the locked cabinet at our office.
  3. 03You collect itWe check identification before we hand anything back, and we record who collected it and what we checked. You get a receipt too. If you can't get to us, ring the office and we'll work something out.
  4. 04Unclaimed after 6 monthsWe are required to dispose of unclaimed property securely after six months. Anything holding personal data is shredded or wiped, never simply thrown out, and the disposal is recorded.

Property left in vehicles is logged, stored securely at the operator's address, and securely disposed of if unclaimed after six months. A receipt is issued to the driver handing property in, and the details of anyone collecting property are recorded.
